The Standing Committee for the Federal Judiciary (also known as the "SCFJ" or "Judicial Committee" was launched in February 2021 in response to candidates for judicial nominations seeking AMBA endorsements. 

  • The endorsement process covers the following elements and its details can be found in the AMBA "SCFJ Guide."

    • The committee members engage in an intensive research and interview process when considering endorsing nominees to the bench. 

    • AMBA will help endorse state, federal, and administrative judges, who apply and successfully an AMBA endorsement.

    • AMBA will send its endorsement to Senators, Congress Members, and the President of the United States. 


AMBA is proud to endorse the following candidates to the bench:

Matthew Larson, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit

  • Matt has demonstrated a commitment to upholding values of fairness, equality, and justice for all.

  • As a Federal Public Defender, he has sought justice for his clients and represented the indigent with poise, sophistication, and mastery of the law.

  • Matt brings compassion understanding, and experience to the bench and understands the practical effects of Second Circuit jurisprudence.

  • Matt has shown dedication to the rule of law, as well as political neutrality and intellectual rigor.

  • Matt has worked diligently to ensure that his clients—particularly American Muslims—are afforded proper due process under the law.

  • We are confident Matt will guarantee that all litigants are judged not based on their race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, social economic or disability status, but rather on a fair and just application of the law.

In order to maintain the integrity of the judicial endorsement process, individual members of the committee remain anonymous. There will always be at least five permanent members of the committee in order for the committee to be operable. To join the committee, please email president@ambalegal.org
